Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Washed
SCAA 86 Points
Winey Acidity / Medium Body
Notes of citrus, orange zest, and jasmine
Ethiopia is famous for being the region where coffee was first discovered. In the 9th Century AD, a goat herder named Kaldi allegedly allowed his goats to eat a wild plant that made the goats go into a frenzy. It turned out to be an arabica coffee plant and over time this knowledge spread and became the coffee we know and love today.
The Yirgacheffe region is in the larger region of Sidama and produces an amazing coffee that has a bright and winey acidity, with fruit flavors and a silky finish. Because arabica varieties all originated from Ethiopia, the climate and environment is perfect for coffee cultivation.
